THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED

For the 2019 Anthony Burgess Lecture, we are delighted to welcome Dame Margaret Drabble to Manchester for a specially commissioned talk on literary reputations. Taking Anthony Burgess's grand late bid for immortality Earthly Powers as a starting point, the lecture will explore how we remember writers and the power of posterity.

Margaret Drabble was born in Sheffield and is the author of 19 novels including A Summer Bird-Cage, The Millstone, The Pure Gold Baby, and The Dark Flood Rises. She has also written biographies and screenplays. Presented in partnership with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.
