Join us for an afternoon in the company of a giant of contemporary poetry. Les Murray was born in 1938 and grew up on a dairy farm in New South Wales. He has published more than 30 books and received numerous awards, including the TS Eliot Prize, the Petrarch Prize, the Mondello Prize, and The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry.

His new collection, Waiting for the Past, a Poetry Book Society Choice, is published by Manchester’s Carcanet Press. Rich in topographies, it brings to life different landscapes, people, places and ideas. Blake Morrison called Les 'one of the finest poets writing in English today, one of the super league which includes Seamus Heaney, Derek Walcott and Joseph Brodsky'. The event will be introduced by John McAuliffe.
