THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

Join two captivating artists for an unforgettable evening of performance poetry. The winner of The Poetry Society’s 2017 Ted Hughes Award for New Work, Hollie returns to MLF to read from her wise, sometimes rude and piercingly candid new collection, Plum. In her debut Nobody Told Me, Hollie’s plainspoken writing about the joy and confusion of new motherhood, and the mixed messages society sends women struck a powerful chord with readers and audiences across the UK. Her new collection addresses growing up, sex and the body; stitching together writing from her younger selves with new work to create a moving and beautiful picture.

She will be joined by poet, comedian and playwright Jackie Hagan. Jackie’s work has been published by Flapjack Press, she is a recent recipient of a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship, and has been the focus of a Channel 4 documentary in which she downs cut price lager from her glittery false leg.

Hosted by Naomi Frisby (The Writes of Woman).
