Dorian Lynskey on George Orwell
When the protests around Donald Trump’s presidency began, one of the reoccurring signs read ‘1984 isn’t a guidebook’; but in the 80 years since its publication, George Orwell’s dystopia has influenced and pervaded our culture. In The Ministry of Truth, British journalist and author Dorian Lynskey examines the influences on and impact of Orwell’s vision, from Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, to David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs. From the reality TV show Big Brother, to fake news and alternative facts.
Dorian has been writing about music, film and politics for over 20 years and is the author of the critically acclaimed 33 Revolutions Per Minute: A History of Protest Songs.
