Labour MP and broadcaster Alan Johnson received a standing ovation at Manchester Literature Festival when he first visited to discuss his best-selling memoir, This Boy, a few years back. In his forthcoming book, In My Life, Alan tells his story through the music that’s inspired and influenced him. From being transported by the sound of Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly’s ‘True Love’ on the radio, to humming Elvis Costello’s ‘Watching the Detectives’ as he worked as a postman, and his long-running worship of The Beatles, Alan shows how music has been integral to his life. We’re delighted to welcome him back to discuss the world of Dansettes and jukeboxes, smoky coffee shops and dingy dance halls, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and perfect pop singles with host Anita Sethi.

Doors open at 7pm and the event starts at 7.30pm prompt.
